WG 4 investigates and defines specifications for workflows and software that enable state-of-the-art dosimetry modelling. The aim is to compile the results of ongoing mathematical modelling efforts and their implementation and to provide the community with reliable, standardized digital tools that enable the optimization and benchmarking of the entire clinical dosimetry workflow (CDW). WG 4 composes an inventory of the procedures used for clinical dosimetry. The current status of digital benchmarking implemented to standardize and ensure reproducibility and comparability of dosimetric results in different centers will be investigated. State-of-the-art modelling approaches for dosimetric procedures and treatment planning will be identified and discussed, and the needed improvements with respect to benchmarking will be defined and compiled. The domains of application of digital patients in the clinical dosimetry workflow will be evaluated. Finally, the dissemination of associated protocols will enable a comprehensive benchmarking for use in clinical dosimetry.
